Dear Golden Rainbow Choreographers and Performers,

The time has come to ring in the holiday season with the 35th Annual Ribbon of Life!!

Last year the Las Vegas entertainment community helped Golden Rainbow raise over One Million dollars during the show.  You read that correctly, OVER ONE MILLION DOLLARS were raised to provide transitional housing, education, and emergency financial assistance to the individuals and children in Southern Nevada living with HIV/AIDS.

We are grateful to be able to continue this decades long fundraising tradition with the incredible community changing the face of Las Vegas entertainment.

Hopefully you are seeing this after having been invited by a member of the Golden Rainbow Board of Directors or the Production team.  If not, please let me know as we would like to personally visit with the casts and talent who have made this show, and what Golden Rainbow does, possible.

On Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, Ribbon of Life will return to the Tropicana Theater. We are humbly asking that you offer your support again.  This will be our last opportunity to use this theater and we want to blow the roof off.

Due to the incredible success and feedback from our first ever holiday show in 2022, we will solidify this holiday tradition by continuing the theme: Golden Rainbow presents “The 35th Annual Ribbon of Life – The Holiday Spectacular”.

Once again, we will focus on reimaging the holidays as only the talent of Las Vegas can.  Think Radio City Music Hall. Can a holiday classic be given new life? Is there contemporary music that inspires kindness, love or the spirit the holidays should invoke?

Unlike past years, the Production Team has created a set list to help with the development, but we certainly welcome your creativity and ideas, as we want to make this a true Las Vegas production.

Once more, we are fortunate enough to partner with the Tropicana Hotel and Red Mercury Entertainment for our production and avail ourselves of their amazing video screen.

We will also include our “Text to Vote” to recognize the audiences’ top three performance picks.  Imagine the thrill of creating the most spectacular spectacle in the Holiday Spectacular!!!  These awards will be presented in the first hour of the after party.

Included are a copy of the current guidelines and a submission form.  If you are interested in submitting a proposal for inclusion in this year's show, please read the guidelines carefully and complete the submission form.  We politely request that you return the form and all requested materials by September 25th, 2023.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us through directors@goldenrainbow.org.  We thank you in advance for your support.

Warmest Wishes,

The 2023 Production Team

This year’s show will be called:

~  Golden Rainbow Presents ~

The 35th Annual Ribbon of Life – The Holiday Spectacular

The entertainment goal of this year’s event is to once again, bring in the holiday season with a production showcasing holiday favorites in new and exciting ways, sharing holiday songs that might be new and encompassing all traditions, love and kindness that season brings

Please feel free to submit multiple numbers. However, only one number can be chosen.  There will of course be ballads, but we are looking for numbers that will energize and excite our audience

The show will be 80-90 minutes long.

In order to plan your number, please adhere to the time limits

  • Solo, duet, small cast (under 10 performers) = 3 minutes

  • Large cast = 5 minutes

  • Exceptions to be approved by the directors

*These times include dialogue and scene changes.

Anyone and/or any group can submit a number for consideration. There is no limit to the number of submissions from any single show, cast, or individual. (Please note we may ask vocalists to join dancers or vice versa)

Technical

Music – The plan is to, once again, provide a live band. Please provide standard sheet music and audio of your selection. Please work with Andy at Directors@GoldenRainbow.org to coordinate with the Musical Director. Tracks and video music will also be considered. If the final track is poor quality, the number cannot be included in the show. Your submission CD, however, may be a rough edit version of the original artist.

Video – These past few years have allowed many artists to become quite proficient in filming. For creators wishing to use film for their performance medium, we’re accepting a limited number of filmed performances to be incorporated and played during the show.  Video as a supplemental element to a live performance is also welcomed.

Microphones - Please list your maximum requirements for featured performers. We request that large vocal choruses be recorded to the Master CD for playback. Microphone assignments will be made during the technical rehearsals.

Sets - There will be most likely one set look for the show. We will provide a stage layout to you to help with your blocking needs when the design is final. You are welcome to supplement stage pieces as long as you can manage the transitions.  A Video Wall is available, format given upon request, all final looks are included at the discretion of the Production team.

Lights - Please detail your lighting requirements. We are limited on intricate lighting designs due to time constraints. We will work with each choreographer to create the final cues during the tech process; however, a complete description of your needs will assist us in expediting the process. Please have these at your blocking rehearsal for our lighting designer.
